With a pair of rats in his hands, a bum robbed a public transportation bus in the Colombian capital while provoking terror among the passengers, who in a mixture of fear and repulsion gave him more than what he demanded, informed the local press on Friday.
"If you don't give me 10.000 pesos (about $4.50), I'll set free this two rats inside the vehicle", assured the threatening individual -in the words of a witness- after suddenly boarding the vehicle covering a route through downtown Bogotá, on Thursday afternoon.
"He was a tall, thin guy, with curly hair and a thick stubble, and even tough he wasn't dirty, he looked quite untidy. And the bus driver didn't even realized what was going on" added the same witness to the local news paper "El Tiempo".
She remarked that the 15 passengers, "specially the women begun screaming and climbing atop their seats. A gentleman pulled a 2.000 pesos bill, and offered it to the derelict, but the man said he wanted 10.000, or he'd release the animals (...)
the thief recieved a lot more than that" because of the general panic, said the witness.
"His shamelesness was such, that after getting off the bus, he showed us the two rats from the sidewalk and made faces and grimaces" concluded the witness, clearing the fact that the episode ocurred in front of a downtown police station.
